...screw it up like most of those general managers (i.e. Bill Bavasi, Dan Duquette, Steve Phillips, Brian Cashman, Kevin Malone). I sure hope I don't have to add Jim Hendry to the list.

Yeah, pretty sure Helling came as a FA but still, you look at every deal TR does andh e almost never does a bad one and almost always gets the best of the deal. Didn't he also get Johan Santana from Florida for a bag of balls, or its equivilant? What could that man do with an extra 100mil in payroll like some of the other gm's.

Although, he didn't get Rick Helling from the Phillies -- I believe he got minor league reliever Bobby Korecky (as a "player to be named later", I think).

Wait a minute...those are Legos! I thought your GM jsut had a very pointy head.
Actually, I feel that Ryan and Hendry are similar in many ways. Ryan has just had the benefit of a very weak division to get him repeatedly into the playoffs. That being said, he is a very good GM.
