What about Eric Byrnes?
A good read for those that are curious about Eric Byrnes:

FWIW.
Rob: How does Eric Byrnes grab ya?
This is intriguing to me; always liked the guy, myself.
The upside? 2008 Jim Edmonds. Byrnes seems to be an emotional player. Maybe he gets a whiff of North Side Baseball, and it rejuvenates him to the level of making the insane catches like Reed Johnson, along with maybe a .850+ OPS in his role.
The downside? 2009 Ryan Freel. I always loved him, too. But unfortunately, he's done. Might Byrnes be done, too? He very well could be a guy who is not dealing well with the PED crackdown - and I'm not necessarily talking steroids or HGH, but maybe amphetamines?
Alternatives? Johnny Gomes is also being discussed, and he seems to be another of those 'larger than life' personality guys. Although Gomes ain't gonna catch much for you.
Also? Reed Johnson? Too hurty all the time.
Jermaine Dye? Who's convinced he will adjust well to a bench role? And if so, who's convinced he would perform well in that particular role? No, me neither.
I wouldn't mind seeing Byrnes in camp with us, I guess, if the money is small.

Well Its not like were
Well Its not like were talking a starting outfielder out of these guys Or are we?
A fourth outfeilder would be nice but if a guy like Eric Byrnes could get his Shh together
the he could start in right over a fukodome I think adding a 4th outfielder whos a capable of being productive is gives pinella so many more options and guys lk soriano who get hurt about a month-2 months out of every season a rest or subbed in! If byrnes did what he did 2 years ago boy would be a happy hello to our new leadoff guy or possible number 2 cuz he can bunt!
There is a 0% chance Byrnes
There is a 0% chance Byrnes has an OPS over .850. His career high is .814, and he is well past his prime.
On the plus side, The D-Backs are paying his salary, so the Cubs would only have to give him the league minimum. The question though is if he would be worth the roster spot. I personally doubt it.
