Let's be honest, Dempster scared the crap out of Cub fans as a closer. It wasn't until he was voted into the All-Star game last year that all of us started to ease up on this guy. 2009 version?... The jury is still out on Gregg. He has had a pretty good year with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 innings, but no one is resting on their laurels when he comes in in the 9th. Oh, and Guzman??? who the hell knows, he hasn't pitched enough innings, but I know this... he is better than we all thought back around April 1 when everyone was speculating who the Cubs were going to take to Chicago for opening day. I say last years version of innings 7, 8, 9 was the best of the 3.
You are correct. I was one of those that was scared every time Dempster came in to close a game. But I will say that I get much more upset seeing Gregg out there. Gave up another dinger tonight! I sure hope B.J. can find his stuff quickly and we can unload Gregg as suddenly as he appeared.
Easy question...
