Springs of woe continue - Soriano breaks finger

It's not Spring Training for the Cubs if bizarre things fail to happen.  In this case, Cubs left fielder Alfonso Soriano has suffered a fractured right middle finger - his throwing hand - and he will be expected to miss five weeks while it heals.

Wait, did I just say "five weeks?"  I meant to say "five days."  Five days isn't so bad.  I think we can live with that, so I will just mosey on out of here, having created an unnecessaryly high level of panic.

...although, to be fair, it probably isn't wrong of me to suggest that not only is this par for the Cubbie course, but we will surely see a few more setbacks before the regular season starts - not because the Cubs are prone to misfortune, but because it ain't baseball without setbacks and injuries.

wow

I just read he broke his finger picking his nose. Bizarre.

This is a message of Big Brother.

I think five days is a bit

I think five days is a bit optimistic. Let's see if he lets go of the bat with his right hand when he swings; that's one habit that he doesn't need to develop.

I'm more concerned with Ramirez' conditioning issue, Soriano will get back in the fray as soon as he can.
