a clarification on my vote

I don't really think A-Rod is a choker, but it was the best option that suits my viewpoint. The Cubs don't really have room to pick up the kind of salary that A-Rod is going to require, and manage to continue to build a younger core team. It's my belief that the only way to win a World Series is to build a team that can remain competitive every year, as once you get to the playoffs, it's a total crapshoot in the 5 and 7 game series. Our team is already getting older - Lee, Soriano, DeRosa, Jones, and Lilly are all on the wrong side of 30 already. Luckily, of those, we only have Soriano signed for an absurdly long time.

Don't get me wrong; signing A-Rod would be awesome for the next couple of years if we could move him back to SS and without a doubt the kind of money you'd make off merchandising would help defray the costs, but he's not going to draw any additional fans to the park - the Cubs sell out practically all the games as it is. It'll only result in higher ticket prices for everyone...

But.....

we do need to save a little coin for some pitching
