Goatriders of the Apocalypse

4.5 games out and counting

Holy crap!  Not to jinx the Cubs or anything (there's no such thing as jinxes, there's no such thing as jinxes...), but we're getting awfully close to the All Star break and the unthinkable has happened.  The Brewers have actually lost some games and the Cubs have managed to gain some ground.  With a Cubs win and a Brewers loss, we're now 4.5 games out of first.  Who knew the Brewers could actually lose (or, for that matter, the Cubs could win).  All very exciting.

Whew, long paragraph.  Deep Breath.

Okay, so now the Cubs and Brewers are going to go all Kirk Cameron and switch identities, with the Cubs taking on Pittsburgh and the Brewers going against the Nationals.  While both teams kind of suck, the Nationals are actually worse than the Pirates so the Cubs are going to have to step up their game if they want to gain anymore ground.  The Brewers might lose a game against the Nationals, but I'd hardly count on it.  Come on, Cubs.  Play your little hearts out.

So, anyway, the newly discovered Jason Marquis (he got a win!) will take on Pat "I thought I was a reliever" Maholm while Dave Bush goes for the Brewers against some guy I've never heard of.

Let the scoreboard watching begin!

Go Cubs.

And also worth noting

Is that the Cubs are only *four* back in the loss column, so that's kinda nice.

2nd half moves?

If the cubs want to make the playoffs and win in the playoffs they have to make some moves. Mainly i would like to see them get into the mix with Burhle. We don't have a steady number 2 pitcher which we will need in the divisional series if we make it. Also, since he has said he'll try free agency next summer signing him wouldn't add any salary for next year so the sale shouldn't matter. Thoughts?
