And yes, that is pretty much how I feel about him, too.  From the day early last year when the guy sitting behind me at a game saw Fontenot crack a hit, and said "I love that kid"....then said it again after Fontenot cracked a second one....and then later in the game when Theriot cracked his own hit, the guy said it again: "I love that kid", so I turned around and said "different kid". 

Guy said, "Hell, I love both kids!"

Sure, if this were entirely a stats deal, The Riot's would not seem to indicate success.  His eQuvAA or whatever will be amongst the lowest in the league amongst starting shortstops.  And just this weekend alone in the field he failed to make a few plays that the best shortstops make every day.  But I do contend that yes, he has abundant White Scrappy Intangibles, and for a team with few other options, what he brings to the table as a shortstop is more positive than negative.

Although he should always bat eighth.
