Two up, two down - Marshall and Ward say hello, Johnson and Hoffpauir say goodbye
Reed Johnson's back is hurting, while Daryle Ward's is feeling better, so they'll swap places.
- What I mean:
- Ward is on the 25 man roster now, and Johnson is on the DL.
- What I DON'T mean:
- Ward will be platooning with Edmonds in center field.
Just so's as we're clear.
Meanwhile, Sean Marshall is up to make his start in place of Carlos Zambrano. The Cubs, figuring that backup first basemen are NOT the new market inefficiency, and so Micah Hoffpauir returns to AAA Iowa.
Marshall for Zambrano was some time coming; it's obviously a downgrade for the team, but necessary. Ward is an obvious upgrade from Hoffpauir. Johnson being replaced by mrr-mrr-mrr is... well, we don't know what mrr-mrr-mrr is yet; will DeRosa play some more outfield, with Cedenot filling in at second? Will Matt Murton see more time in the outfield? Who knows! Tune in next time we face a lefty!
