Meet your Manager
Just something to look at while waiting to watch the Bears/thinking about the bears/eating a bear-claw:
The Many Faces of Lou Piniella

Crazy, possibly homicidal Lou

He was young once, before the invention of color

Make yourself comfortable, Lou, you're going to be here awhile

Lou Piniella: Friend to small children.

Lord knows it's not easy being that pretty.
So, there you have it, a man as complex and multi-layered as any onion you'll ever find.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I think there's a great chance that the Cubs will land A-Rod this off season. I don't care what Cashman says, Rodriguez is done in NY, and when you put together an extra $15-20m payroll, a gaping hole at short, and Piniella being named Cubs manager... well, put it this way, if A-Rod signs for anybody else, Jim Hendry will have screwed up in spectacular style. Oh, wait...

Okay, it happened. we gotta move on and back the guy (why couldn't we have gotten Macha?!?) ahem, excuse me. So now, before anything else we need to get some quality starters. Can Lou-P help with that? Now we get to find out if the Cubs are really serious about winning or not.

Now that we've got the Many Faces out of the way, do you guys plan to start going over the Many Players the Cubs Should Pursue This Offseason?
You could probably start with A-Rod, if this ESPN.com report is correct and Pinella wants the Cubs to go after him.
A-Rod has 4 years, $95 million left on his deal. However, the Rangers are picking up $28.4 million of that, his current employers with the other $66.6 mil.
A-Rod for 4 years, at $16.65 million a year? After he batted .290/35/121 this year and could play shortstop? God, that really might be too good to pass up, regardless of how much I don't care for A-Rod.

Interesting... I have wanted to do what he is doing in the first picture multiple times tonight. However; things are looking good right now - Bears up by 1, 4th quarter.

And the Cubs officially hired Pinella today...
THe irony is that the A's fired Ken Macha on this very same day.
