Series Preview - Cubs at Nationals

Cubs at Nats

Wow, two pictures of dubya on one day. I thought this wasn't supposed to be a political blog.

So, yesterday the Cubs lost, crushing my dreams of a six loss season. I know you're sad, but you have to learn to deal with loss. That's why I killed your puppy (you might want to check your voicemail; it's from your significant other). Hopefully we'll all learn something from this experience and it'll make dealing with the next loss a little easier (speaking of next losses, you might want to wait a little while before buying your next puppy. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin').

Alright, time is short today, so the preview will be brief and uninformative. Like your mom. Zing!

Wait...that doesn't make any sense. Regardless, onto the series preview!

Odalis Perez vs. Ryan Dempster - When I first saw O. Perez followed by an ERA around 3, I thought "hey, when did the Nationals get Oliver Perez." Then I saw that the pitcher in questions was actually Odalis Perez and my thought was "how the hell is this guy still in the league." It just goes to show, it pays to get your career off to a fast start and attract attention. But seriously, Perez is just an awful, awful pitcher and should be put in his place.

Of course, some would point out the hypocrisy of taking a jab at Perez while giving Dempster's hot start a pass. Well, whatever, if you don't like it get your own blog. Dempster's been quite good so far this year and here's to more of the same.

Carlos Zambrano vs. Matt Chico - We've finally seeing the Carlos Zambrano we've all being dreaming of, the Zambrano with both control and dominating stuff. Frankly, it kind of rules.

Chico, on the other hand, has nothing going for him other than the fact that I find it hard to start typing his name and not end it with "ago". Does that make him a local favorite? Chico has sucked pretty spectacularly this year having yielded only one fewer homer than Lee has hit (on pace for an impressive 42 homers allowed). Is this guy related to Glendon Rusch?

Ted Lilly vs. John Lannan - Ted Lilly was slightly improved in his last start, a fact that I attribute mainly to improved luck. Here's to further regression to the mean.

I've never heard of Lannan, but he seems pretty good. Probably the toughest matchup of the season.

Okay, this is the first series preview since the Phillies where I didn't compliment all the opposing pitchers. Let's see if my posts affect reality and the Cubs lose their ability to hit.

Go Cubs.

yea Jason!

good preview Jason and here's to a sweep!

Chico and the Man

So, does this make Z the man?
