Cubs Sweep Rockies - 1st seal opened

I went to the Cubs game today... but I can't tell you much about it other than that if you weren't in the sun, but were wearing a shirt and shorts, you were probably cold. Also
• Ron Zook attempted to pull of the Mike Ditka during the seventh inning stretch. He was a bad football coach at Florida, I don't care about the Illini, and he can't sing. Oh, and exactly how does a football coach butchering a song honor Harry Caray? Let's just let Ron Santo sing it from now on.
• Sean Gallagher was in constant trouble, but managed to go 5.2 innings while only allowing 3 runs, one of which scored after he left the game. He should remain in the starting rotation for now.
• It's the first time I've had to decide whether or not I would cheer for Jim Edmonds. That clapping and smiling was because of the two runs that scored... I'm still not sure I like the guy.
• With the exception of Wuertz, who gave up a double and a walk in the two batters he faced, the Cubs pen was good today, nay dominant. Kerry Wood registered his 14th save of the year. He and Marmol should receive some consideration for an All-Star appearance.
• They really love Fukudome at Wrigley. However, would it be bad if I suggested the emperor wasn't as fully clothed as we thought? He's hitting .303/.405/.433 with 3 homers and 21 RBI.
| Kozuke Fukudome's Rank on the Cubs | |
| AVG | 3rd |
| OBP | 2nd |
| SLG | 6th |
| Runs | 4th |
| Hits | 3rd |
| 2B | 5th |
| 3B | 1st |
| HR | 6th |
| RBI | 7th |
| TB | 5th |
| BB | 1st |
| SB | 2nd-T |
I guess my point is that Fukudome leads the team in triples, walks, and being Japanese... it's great to cheer for him, but the Wrigley faithful should be going wild for some other players too.
Gee-o-So-to!
