Game Recap part2: Cubs 7, Mets 1 - This is the year!

There are very few things better than attending a game at Wrigley Field on a perfect weather night, when the game unravels as a tight pitcher's duel, only to be blown wide open by a late offensive onslaught. Yet, if the tickets are free, and your friend is right alongside you... well that's pretty awesome too.

First, Kurt's already done one of these... but since I was there, I'm gonna post some of my pics.

Let's see here. Carlos Zambrano was fantastic and dominating. There were few baserunners, and those that did reach tended to get erased on double play balls.

John Maine was very good, and would have won eight times out of ten with his effort, but he wasn't as good as Z. Maine allowed a leadoff hit to Derrek Lee in the fourth, and a two run homer to Aramis Ramirez, but the two runs were enough to saddle Maine with the loss.

In the seventh inning, the Cubs broke it open by loading the bases (Derrek Lee singled, A-Ram was HBP, and Fukudome got a single after seeing about 12 pitches), and then cheering as Ronny Cedeno hit a two-run single. Felix Pie followed up with a 3 run homer, and a 2-1 pitchers duel exploded into a 7-1 no brainer in about 5 minutes.

Oh, by the way. I'm totally in the tank, drinking the Cubby-Blue-Kool-aid (again). This is the year!

Son, remember the Oath of the Sloth

I Do Not Swill Tha Blue Kool-Aid!

Still, smackin' that Met azz is always fun, isn't it?

I know, but

I know Mr. Sloth... but it was so tasty... and it will be so rewarding when (not if) the Cubs win it all this year.

(Oh man, I'm so screwed... the psychological work after this season is going to take YEARS to repair.)
