Noooooooo...Miller to rejoin Cubs; Cotts down, Marshall up
"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as ifmillions of voices suddenly cried out in terror..."
According to Cubs.com, the "big suprise" is that Wade Miller will be rejoining the Cubs. No word on whether he was bringing a fastball with him.
Miller made two rehab starts with the I-Cubs last year, going 1-0 with a 6.55 ERA, while recovering from a right shoulder arthroscopy. This time, facing a lineup that included five players with big-league experience, Miller got off to a rough start, laboring through 30 pitches in the first inning.
For the record, I feel great about this.
Guzman will be rejoining the bullpen and no word on whether Sean Marshall will be visiting Chicago anytime soon.
Actually, nevermind. Apparently Neal Cotts is being sent to Iowa and Marshall is being called up to replace him. Cotts had been in a major tailspin of late, but early on was the only reliable lefty. Unfortunately for him, he has both options (as opposed to Ohman) and isn't making a billion dollars (as opposed to Eyre). Thanks to Desipio for the heads up.
Well, props to Lou. He said he would make moves, and make moves he did. It's like a whole new pitching staff.

Well, you all wanted Dusty gone...
...welcome to the anti-Dusty.
I-I-I-I Preee-dict (saying it like I mean it) that by midseason 2008 we're all going to be hopping around like mad convicts who didn't get their pepper steak on Thursday, asking for a manager who doesn't play "musical chairs" with the roster.
Or maybe we have a lame duck organization who have a freeze on making trades. Because God knows we need some.
Press Vultures
The Score, ESPN 1000, the newspapers -- all starting to freak out about the Cubs odd moves or non-moves.
Wade Miller?!
Dempster to start, er, wait, ok, not, maybe.
Soriano simply CANNOT hit 2nd (Steve Stone).
Soriano, Murton, Jones, Floyd, Pagan all actually left fielders.
Why Mark DeRosa? No one knows.
This season looks to get uglier and uglier, and it's not even June.
Meanwhile, if you go to sleep early you may thankfully miss the Cubs vs. Jake Peavy tonight.
Pagan isn't only a LF...
He's defensively very capable in all three OF spots. The other four are certainly LF, though.
